    Another Computer Mess

The opinion article says that the new idea to make national records electronically available will cost $1.4 billion.
I think it sounds like an invasion of privacy to the government and why does it cost so much???

  5. I read "Smoke and The city: Heat and Light" From The New York times.
In the article It tells how in New your they are doing a wide spread of making non-smoking areas. And How it will be more health for a lot of people that don't smoke. This article I totally agree with. I do think they should limit where people can ad cannot smoke. We need to look out for the people that do not smoke and be worried about others health. Many people in this article People DISAGREE with. They think that the government should not tell them how they should live. But the government is making a wise decision.

  6. I read the article called "Keep gun records open" it is what the title says.
its about the government thinking about closing the records of concealed weapons, so bad guys do not steal the permits from owners who really use the weapon for protection. I do not agree with the author which we do not know who it is. But on the other hand the article was a good one.

  7. I read "Keep Gun Records Open" in the Oregonian. This article was about the right to have a concealed weapon. He wrights about how it could benefit the safety of the citizens, because not many people would rob a bank if they didn't know who is packing heat. Also it also would be easier to get a gun into public places and start shooting randomly. This was a good article and i enjoyed it.

    "Keep gun records open"
I fond this at the Oregonian.

This editorial is about efforts on trying to close on concealed-carry permits so it offers no benefits and keeps the public in the dark. The anonymous writer agrees with this. I do not agree with this I think that they shouldn't keep the public in the dark and should let people know. So that if they are dangerous we know not to go near him

Summery of "Mr. Suleiman’s Empty Promises" written by The New York Times.
The Editorial Informed about the current state of the revolution and the united states standpoint on it. It showed that the people currently in power are trying to resist the change to a democracy and keep whatever they can of the remaining system. They go on to list some things that could be done by the world powers to ensure that the people of Egypt get the rights and treatment they are entitled to.

  10. The opinion article I read was "Investing In Oregon Future," Ted Wheeler. In this article, Ted Wheeler explains that Oregon is wanting to change the ways our banks work, and that the state is thinking about doing it similar to North Dakota. Ted disagrees with that, and thinks that our banking system could use changes, and North Dakota's system is working out well for them, but there's some things that might not work out as well for Oregon. So now, he is trying to come up with new ways to change our banking system. I don't really have much of an opinion to this, because I don't really need to worry about banking and stuff like that yet, and I don't really know much about banking either.

  11. I read "Cheers for 'Skins'" in *The Oregonian.* This article is about a new, controversial, MTV series. “American parents owe a debt of gratitude to the upstanding corporate citizens at Viacom’s MTV for their series of public service announcements illustrating the dangers of illegal drugs, excessive drinking and casual sex. Otherwise known as ‘Skins,’ the cable channel’s remake of a British series about a group of teenagers engaging in all the above.”
Personally, I like the show. This article depicts the show right on point.

This article is about a new ipod app called " Confession: a Roman Catholic App". Created by two priests, this app is supposedly going to help you confess your sins and preach to people by theology through new technology. The program asks you questions according your age and gender. The author's opinion is a little against this app I think. She states that "nothing is sacred anymore". I believe that that the only way to confess your sins and learn about religion is to go to church and confess to God, not an ipod app. Technology has been making people more and more lazy to do the right thing.

  13. In the opinion article, "Investing in Oregon's Future," by Ted Wheeler explains how we need to change how our banking system works. Oregon is thinking about the same thing so we can save money and use money towards the right things, like supporting businesses, families, and communities. He researched how North Dakotas banking works and it is working pretty well for them but we may need to do a couple more things different then them to make our banking system work with success. Ted Wheeler wants to make the change and I think he has the power to make the change. It is a good decision.

  14. I read "Why I left the tea party" from *The Oregonian*. This article talks about how if the Rebublicans are going to take the White House back in 2012, they are gonna have to start doing a lot more than let their tea party counterparts do the talking. They need to do this because the population wants to hear the arguments of policy and solutions. In my opinion I think the Republicans do need to do that because it is true that americans want to hear the arguments.

In "Police shootings letter" by Steve Perry in The Oregonian it said the people can not judge the police like what they see on TV. In the real life the police need to shoot until the threat stop. I agreed about who wrote this letter, i think if the police shoot on the heart so the people will dead but the police should forgive the people one time.

  17. I read an article that was called "Pro and con: Pro and con: banning plastic bags l b" *The Oregonian* it was about Senate Bill banning the use of plastic bags in stores across the nation. It listed the pros and cons of the use of plastic bags. I like the idea of banning plastic bags, they clog up drains and are all over the ground. He wanted to require customers to pay 5 cents for each plastic bag; it would encourage the use of re-usable bags, and it would be good for the environment.

  18. I read "What Are They Waiting For" *The New York Times. This article is about how an person near the Mexican border as got a shipment of high powered rifles. The Obama administration is just now realizing that they need to do something about the trafficking. My opinion is that they need to find out who is trafficking the the rifles, before something bad happens.

  19. I read "Keep Gun Records Open" by unsigned editorial out of The Oregonian. The article was about how they were trying to get rid of public concealed weapon permit. They failed the first time and the editorial bored agree that it should fail again. The author thinks the public should keep the right to have concealed weapon permits. I agree, We the people have the right to bare arms. Im completely for keeping the right to have a concealed weapons permit. I agree that we should be able to have a concealed weapons permit because it causes no harm and people have the right to protect them selves!

  21. I read "Cheers for 'Skins'". The article talks about the new MTV show "Skins". The show provides ideas and opinions about the dangers of drugs, sex, and alcohol while also being entertaining. The article also talks about the how parents should be thanking MTV for it's services. It seems that MTV may be showing it's sweeter side. In my opinion, I've watched the show, an I believe that the show is only entertaining, if anything, i think it makes kids WANT to do drugs and drink. I disagree with the author strongly. I got the article from the oregonians website.

  23. I read "Police should Ace Fitness Tests" on *The Oregonian*.
The article says that all police are required to be at a certain physical level when they first start, but after that it's all up to them.
The author thinks that ALL police should constantly pass fitness tests so that they can be in top physical form.
I totally agree, because if a cop is out of shape, they may not be able to do their duties.

  26. I read "Forgive me Father, for i have linked" From the New York Times. This article is about a new app that came out. It is basically a hand held guide to going to confession. Although it is no confessional and it will not wipe you of your sins, it supposedly helps you get on the right path for when you do step into the confession box. The author is very discrete of her opinion and never clearly states what side she is on. When I first read this article, i was against the idea of having a portable confession organizer. But as I was driving home, I realized that i would probably use it, and that was the author trying to put her opinion on me because that was just the mood of her writing. Since I am Catholic, at first, I was almost offended by the author's opening paragrah. Then I realized, that was probably her way of expressing her opinion.

  27. I read "Protesters in Egypt Regain Initiative as Workers Strike" from *The New York Times* by Kareen Fahim. The author explains the current strike happening in Egypt. At the moment workers are on strike because they're demanding better wages. More than 2,000 textile workers have stopped working as well as government workers. I think the all of the strikes in Egypt is pushing the country to a possible civil war or assassination of there current president. I'm in favor of the workers and all the other people striking because its time for Mubarak to resign because he has been in office for 30 years and its time for someone else to lead.

I read "Keep gun records open" in the "Oregonian" written by anonymous in the editorials. This editorial was about trying to get rid of concealed weapon permits in oregon. Few people are scared that criminals will want to steal the concealed weapons permits from the people that have them. "This is very unlikely to happen" says the author. I agree, it's not very likely that criminals would actually pay attention to a concealed weapons permit. This was an intresting editorial and i enjoyed it.

  29. I read "Allies Press U.S. to Go Slow on Egypt" from *The New York Times* by Mark Landler and Helene Cooper. These authors explain the demands of Egypt's close allies for the United States to stop pressuring and not to interfere with Egypt. I believe if United State's keeps trying to get into Egypt's problems, we could also create a problem with its close allies. America cannot get into another war because Iraq is still going and has put us into major debt and if we go into another countries issue, we will be put in another long war.

  30. I read "Keep Gun Records Open" by unsigned editorial, from *The Oregonian.* The artical states that efforts to close access to concealed-carry permits. This legislation failed the last time and peape think this one is going to fail as well. The authur thinks the legislation is absurd."Closing the records does nothing to help anyone, addresses no problem and manages to further erode the public's ability to keep taps on their oficcials." i completely agree with the authur. This law they are tryin g to pass is ridiculous. Peaple should be able to carry protection.

  31. I read "Obama and Egypt's future" by the NewYorkTimes. From the start the U.S. knew they were on the wrong side of this fight. Egypt is in struggle with their people being on the governments side. The U.S. thinks that they are on the wrong side of this power struggle. I think our government needs to get the heck out of Egypt. - Jeremy Martin

  32. I read "When Armies Decide" at the *New York Times* written BY DAVID E. SANGER. The article discusses the pros and cons of having the Egyptian army deciding the fate of Egypt and it's people. I think the their armies should go with what the people of the country want, instead of one man, who really isn't doing much to help them, or has any plans for the country for the future.
